Dispatch Episode 1 ('Pivot'): Key choices and whether you should kiss Blonde Blazer

Published Jan 28, 2026, Episode 1 ('Pivot') is the first chapter of Dispatch. You play Robert Robertson, the third-generation Mecha Man, who retires and is recruited to the Superhero Dispatch Network (SDN) to mentor heroes-in-training. The episode opens with a choice to drop the Soothing Goon or pull them back up — letting him drop adds +1 to your Antihero Counter, while pulling him back adds +1 to your Hero/Antihero Counter.

Quick-time events (QTEs) and a hacking minigame follow; successes usually grant +1 to the Robert Mentor Counter, though Polygon notes these don’t technically count toward your mentoring role in this episode. The guide recommends turning on Cinematic QTEs and Unlimited Hacking Attempts to make a heroic playthrough easier.

After the hacking sequence you choose one of three lines: “It's over, Shroud.” (+2 Hero Counter), “Prepare to die.” (+2 Antihero Counter), or “I'm here to fuck you up.” (+2 Hero Counter). Later, at a press conference, reporter Charles Kinglsey asks how disappointed your dad would be; answering or leaving both add +3 Hero Counter, while attacking adds +3 Antihero Counter.

At a bar you can throw water (+1 Hero Counter and chips Flambae's front teeth) or alcohol (+1 Antihero Counter and burns his eyebrows); that choice alters Flambae's appearance for the rest of the game.
