Dispatch blends TV-style storytelling into a superhero game — Switch launch Jan. 28
According to a Polygon review, AdHoc Studio’s episodic workplace adventure Dispatch comes to Nintendo Switch on Jan. 28 and succeeds at borrowing television techniques to tell a tightly paced superhero story. Dispatch follows Robert Robertson III, a normal man in a world of heroes who pilots a mech his grandfather built after a villain murdered his father and ruined his life.
The Superhero Dispatch Network hires him to coordinate squads of heroes — his team, the Z‑Team, is made up of former villains on a last-chance assignment. Polygon praises the game’s staging, pacing, dialogue and performances, singling out Aaron Paul’s slow-build delivery and the supporting cast’s rough charm.
Those elements, the review says, make Dispatch feel more like a prestige TV series than a conventional game and earned it a spot on Polygon’s best games of 2025 list. The game also adds interactive dispatch shifts where you choose calls and who to send; Polygon found the systems just complex enough to feel meaningful but noted odd difficulty spikes and sudden instant-failure parameters.
The reviewer also reported that mission performance appears to have little effect on the story, and that many major choices — including how romances with Invisigal and Blonde Blazer play out — exert limited influence.
