Doherty’s ex asks court to block trustee swap in her trust
According to Page Six, Shannen Doherty’s ex-husband, Kurt Iswarienko, has filed to block a court ruling that would substitute the trustee in the actress’s trust.
Iswarienko filed legal documents with the Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, arguing that Doherty’s death and the couple’s 2024 divorce mean the court “lacks jurisdiction,” court documents show. He contends the divorce should not have received an official judgment because Doherty died on July 13, 2024, and therefore the court cannot rule on the trustee substitution. He also says trustee Christopher Cortazzo has not adequately shown authority under the trust to bring the motion; Cortazzo filed documents on Nov. 24 seeking to be successor in interest to the family estate. The estate has accused Iswarienko of not selling the couple’s $1.5 million Dripping Springs, Texas, home as agreed, withholding more than $50,000 and failing to return Doherty’s property.
The divorce agreement was signed on July 13, 2024, hours before Doherty died, and a judge formally declared the couple divorced on July 15. A representative for Doherty’s estate did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Sources previously said Doherty fought to end the marriage because she feared he could take over her estate.
