Polygon's review (published Jan 28, 2026) says Don't Stop, Girlypop!, the debut from Australian developer Funny Fintan Softworks, is a hyper-fast first-person shooter the outlet called 'the best Doom clone in years.' The game is out now on Windows PC. You play as Imber, a magical fairy tasked with stopping an evil mining corporation, armed with a shotgun and a bejeweled flip phone.

Polygon notes the core loop mirrors Doom-era arena combat: clearing waves of enemies, picking up colored keycards, and using weapons such as a magic wand to pick up and throw objects. Girlypop trades grim metal for a bright-pink Y2K aesthetic, an unabashed bubblegum-pop soundtrack, and a UI full of hearts and sparkles.

Weapons and arms can be customized with colorful textures and stickers; the review likens its visual excess to a Lisa Frank poster. Mechanically the game is momentum-based and high-skill: faster movement raises damage and healing, and grappling, hopping and chained dashes are essential.

Polygon praises the exhilarating first hour but says late-game shootouts can plateau, platforming sections grind momentum to a halt, and the crowded UI sometimes makes it hard to tell when Imber is low on health. The review argues Girlypop feels radical for reimagining shooter aesthetics and suggests it could be a spark for broader change in the genre, but whether it will reform player demographics remains unclear.
