Kotaku reports that streamer Herschel “Dr Disrespect” Beahm posted a photo of a media badge on January 26 and said he had been invited to a pre-release hands-on event for the newly released, free-to-play raid shooter Highguard.

Multiple people who attended the event denied seeing him there, and some users on Reddit have suggested his photo may have been faked with generative AI or Photoshop. Highguard creator manager Chin Pua replied to a viral tweet and confirmed that he “was not invited to any Highguard event past or present, and the badge was not an official badge.” Creators at the event, including Macro, said he was not invited, and others who attended said they did not see him; a freelancer the outlet sent to the event also didn’t see him.

The outlet has reached out to Highguard PR but has yet to hear back. Players on the Highguard subreddit point to differences between the badge image and confirmed badges as evidence of possible fakery; if he did attend, observers noted the badge in his photo has an unusual layout. He has not publicly confirmed that he did not attend, and he streamed the game on Rumble and YouTube on launch day.
