Dwayne Johnson Bids Farewell to Danny DeVito on 'Jumanji' Set — Movieweb

Danny DeVito has finished filming on Jumanji 4, the final chapter of the franchise. DeVito joined the series in 2019 as Eddie Gilpin in Jumanji: The Next Level, and his last day on set prompted an emotional send-off from costar Dwayne Johnson.

Johnson shared behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram, including one in which he leans in to kiss the top of DeVito’s head. In the post’s caption he called it an “honor” and a “privilege” to work with and learn from DeVito, described him as a “friend,” and thanked him for bringing his “heart and joy” to the series.

Production on the film began in November 2025 after delays tied to the cast’s packed schedules and the COVID-19 pandemic. Johnson reprises his role alongside Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan as the group’s video game avatars, with Jake Kasdan directing. DeVito’s wrap marks another milestone as the film moves toward its December 11, 2026 release.
