Dwayne Johnson Wraps Production on Next Jumanji Film — Collider

Dwayne Johnson confirmed on Instagram that production on the next Jumanji movie has officially wrapped. He helped relaunch the franchise in 2017 with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which grossed $960 million against a $90 million budget, and returned for a sequel two years later that cost $35 million more and grossed $160 million less.

Last year Johnson stepped away from big-budget fare to pursue Oscar hopes with The Smashing Machine, an A24-backed MMA biopic co-starring Emily Blunt. The film earned solid reviews but severely underperformed at the box office, dimming those awards prospects. He is not abandoning blockbusters.

Johnson is attached to one of Martin Scorsese’s next films alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, with Emily Blunt also reported to have a role; the untitled, Hawaii-set crime thriller is expected to begin production before the end of this year. He will also reunite with The Smashing Machine director Benny Safdie on Lizard Music, in which he plays a much older man.
