Dylan Walsh flabbergasted by Heated Rivalry's popularity
Dylan Walsh, who plays Shane Hollander’s dad in Heated Rivalry, says he’s been blown away by the Crave/HBO Max series’ success. After nearly forty years of acting, he described times when “I’ll do something, I think, okay, this is going to move the dial,” and nothing happens — he thought this show would be one of those and “did not see it coming.” The 62-year-old admits he assumed the gay romance would appeal to a “very selective kind of demographic.” “Not because I’m narrow-minded,” he added, “but because I know that a good portion of the country is narrow-minded.” The overwhelmingly positive response, he says, has been reassuring: “I didn’t see it doing much, and I have to say, I’m so reassured by the response.” Based on the Game Changers book series, the show follows rival hockey players Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie) as they embark on a passionate, secret romance.
