Ed Harris says he's 'very proud' after Amy Madigan's Oscar nomination for Weapons
While at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, Ed Harris said he is "very proud of" his wife Amy Madigan after she received an Oscar nomination on Jan. 22 for her supporting role in Weapons. Harris told The Associated Press, "I'm the husband of an Oscar nominee. I'm very proud of her." Madigan was nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category alongside Elle Fanning and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas (both from Sentimental Value), Wunmi Mosaku (Sinners) and Teyana Taylor (One Battle After Another).
The nomination is Madigan's second; she was previously nominated in 1986 for Twice in a Lifetime. Harris praised Madigan's turn as Gladys, saying, "I think she blew everybody's mind with Gladys." Weapons, a horror movie about several characters in a small town weeks after a group of elementary school students go missing, features Madigan as an eccentric villain with supernatural powers who became a fan favorite when the film was released in August.
He also complimented writer-director Zach Cregger, calling him "a really good filmmaker" and praising the film's construction. Madigan won Best Supporting Actress at the Critics' Choice Awards earlier this month, and she and Harris attended the Golden Globes on Jan. 11.
