Eden emulator resists Nintendo DMCA, releases v0.2.0 — Kotaku

Nintendo issued a fresh round of DMCA takedown notices against the Switch emulation scene, striking close to a dozen GitHub pages over the weekend. Several projects complied, but the team behind the Eden emulator has so far refused and published a new v0.2.0 build on GitHub days later.

Back in 2024, Yuzu and Ryujinx faced similar takedowns after a large settlement, and that crackdown pushed homebrew efforts into less easily accessed corners of the internet. Many of the newer emulators are forks of Yuzu or Ryujinx; Eden is a fork of Yuzu. Eden’s development team says it does not believe the project’s GitHub page violates hosting policies and intends to continue development.

Eden founder Camille LaVey said, "Effectively, as founder of Eden, I can say that we want to keep continuing the work in the preservation of videogames, allowing game owners to benefit from this beyond their original hardware.
