Elon Musk suggests X Money may launch soon, sparking crypto talk

Elon Musk said X Money is already running in internal testing among X employees and could move to a limited external beta within the next one to two months, with a subsequent worldwide rollout to all X users.

The service has secured money transmitter licenses in more than 40 US states and forged partnerships with payment firms such as Visa.

Musk describes X Money as the central source of all monetary transactions as part of a push to turn X into a super app for messaging, shopping and asset management, and to grow monthly active users past 600 million and ultimately to 1 billion.

Investors have speculated about Dogecoin and XRP—linking DOGE to Musk and XRP to Cross River Bank’s use of Ripple’s protocol since 2014—but X Money has not confirmed support for crypto, and DOGE and XRP prices showed no significant reaction. Its impact on markets and the broader financial system may become clearer once the product goes live.
