Elsa's kit exposes Marvel Rivals' powercreep problem
Elsa Bloodstone arrived with the season 6.5 update and quickly drew complaints that she is overpowered, heals too much and deals excessive damage. Some elements of her kit are plainly problematic: a shotgun that fires with rifle-like accuracy, no pellet spread and limited drop-off — three critical hits to finish a target at 30 meters, two at 15 — and an ultimate with an unusually large hitbox.
That said, footage of endless combo chains and 1,000-point practice-range bursts can be misleading; a practice dummy does not fight back. Most of Elsa’s combos require melee range, where multiple opponents can focus her, and her frequent overhealth can still be overwhelmed in real matches.
The situation echoes recent concerns in other games about a single, novel kit dominating until players learn counters. The deeper issue is a shift in the game’s design. NetEase discouraged heavy role specialization and team-focused play for a long time, so many players in unranked matches do not immediately target a single threat.
