Pcgamer reports that last week's cancellation of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time prompted voice actor Eman Ayaz to call it "the most devastating moment of my career."

Ayaz said she had booked the role after a rigorous audition process and that the project felt life-changing; she added that she'd filmed marketing for the game within the last couple months and that the team was looking forward to a launch later this year. She learned about the cancellation from her brother after reading a report about Ubisoft's restructuring rather than directly from the company, and said the shutdown left her "in total shock" because it "brought out what I honestly believe is the best performance of my career, and now nobody is ever going to see that."

Ayaz also described practical fallout: applying for a US work visa is "no longer an option" (she is Canadian), she remains under NDA and cannot share her work, and she warned that industry risk aversion can mean marginalized stories are the first to be cut. One person claiming to be a developer on Reddit said the game was close to release but leadership sometimes opts to stop projects; Ayaz said the project did exist and that the experience "showed me true joy, passion, kinship, artistry" and "those things will serve as the flame to keep me going."
