Eni Aluko says Ian Wright should 'clock' her point on pundit selection
Speaking on the 90s Baby Show podcast, Aluko said she was sat in the stands at the Women’s Lionesses final rather than on ITV, and that Fara Williams was sat next to her — 'Fara Williams has 170 caps [172 caps] for England, something ridiculous, I think she’s the most-capped player.'
She noted the BBC panel featured Ellen White, Steph Houghton and Nedum Onuoha, saying 'no offence to Nedum Onuoha, nothing against him, I don’t know whether he played for England or not, but you’re on the main panel for the final for England Women.'
On ITV, she said, the line-up was Ian Wright, Emma Hayes and Kaz [Karen] Carney, and 'out of six punditry spots, two have gone to men.' Aluko pointed out that the two women in the stands between them had '290 caps, something ridiculous' while opportunities were being taken by men, leaving the women stuck.
She closed by singling out Wright: 'The issue I have with Ian is that, I think in his position he needs to clock what I'm saying.'
