Ethan Nwaneri in talks over Marseille loan as Arsenal seek regular minutes
Goal reports that Arsenal youngster Ethan Nwaneri has reportedly held "positive" talks about a loan move to Marseille that would see him spend the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign in Ligue 1.
The Athletic claims Marseille are "working on a deal" that would include a fee adjustable "depending on appearances" and would not contain a purchase option, with Arsenal keen to retain long-term control of the player. It is said that head coach Roberto De Zerbi has had "positive talks" with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Nwaneri, and that Marseille's style of play is a factor in the club being favoured; a switch would also link Nwaneri with Mason Greenwood and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the Stade Vélodrome. The report adds that clubs across Europe have enquired about a permanent transfer, which "Arsenal will not allow."
It is reported a decision is expected shortly, with time remaining before the winter deadline passes. Nwaneri is seeking more regular minutes early in 2026: he made 37 appearances across all competitions last season but has been limited to 12 outings this term, has not featured in the Premier League since November 23 and has played 515 minutes in 2025-26; Arsenal are said to be willing to let him leave on loan and hope he returns ready to push for a bigger role next season.
