Every Spartacus Season, Ranked
With Spartacus: House of Ashur Season 1 just ended, it’s a good moment to reassess the franchise and ask which season stands tallest. The Ashur offshoot centered on one of the parent show’s most hated characters prompted skepticism at first, but House of Ashur has been praised as a surprising gem.
House of Ashur shows Ashur rising to Lanista and Dominus, even besting someone as mighty as Julius Caesar in the season’s arc. The pilot’s image of him in fine silk sets the tone, and Nick E. Tarabay brings gravitas to the role while Jackson Gallagher and Tenika Davis (as Achillia) add memorable menace.
Fights are more deliberately spaced here, the finale delivers, and the season’s only noted flaw is the underutilization of Julius Caesar, who is nevertheless called the outstanding villain.
