The Football Association has spoken with Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and reminded him of his responsibilities as a participant in English football after his remarks on immigration. The FA has made clear there will be no sanction against Ratcliffe or the club.

Ratcliffe told the broadcaster: "You can't have an economy with nine million people on benefits and huge levels of immigrants coming in," and added: "I mean, the UK has been colonised. It's costing too much money. The UK has been colonised by immigrants, really, hasn't it?

I mean, the population of the UK was 58 million in 2020, now it's 70 million. That's 12 million people." The remarks prompted strong criticism, including condemnation from the anti-racism charity Kick It Out. The backlash reached the political sphere, with Prime Minister Keir Starmer writing on X: "Britain is a proud, tolerant and diverse country.
