Fans of the television series “Heated Rivalry” have pressed for the white zip-up fleece worn by the character Shane Hollander after the episode featuring it aired on Nov. 28; the show’s creator Jacob Tierney and executive producer Brendan Brady said they are working with the Canadian company Province of Canada to make the fleece, and that a portion of proceeds will go to an L.G.B.T.Q.

charity. The frenzy began with a Sochi scene in the show’s second episode when viewers noticed Hollander’s fleece with “Canada” in red letters and a maple leaf on the sleeves and searched for it online, only to learn it had been made specifically for the character rather than sold as official Team Canada merchandise.

Fans mounted a #releasethefleece campaign, a Change.org petition that received over 6,000 signatures and DIY versions posted on TikTok; one commenter wrote, “We literally only want one thing…RELEASE THE FLEECE!!” while the show’s costume designer, Hanna Puley, said in an interview that “It feels very cozy and wearable and just very Canadian.” The series is Canadian in origin: it was filmed mainly in Ontario, produced by the streaming service Crave, and involves Canadian creators and actors, including Mr.

Williams, who plays Shane and is Canadian, Mr. Tierney from Montreal, and Rachel Reid, the author of the source book series, from Nova Scotia. The company producing the licensed fleece sells Canada-branded clothes that are designed and manufactured in Canada.
