Far-out fan theories about Avengers: Doomsday — Culture | The Guardian

Marvel’s promo run for Avengers: Doomsday has revealed almost nothing. Teasers have offered portentous glances, mood lighting and characters standing very still, with dialogue pre‑scrubbed and music swelling as if something enormous is just out of frame. Plot, meanwhile, has been placed in witness protection; the studio clearly knows that any early detail would let fans crack the code months before the film’s December release.

Past examples—trailers for Infinity War and Endgame—left enough clues that the internet worked out major beats well in advance. The Russo brothers briefly invited crowd‑sourced speculation on a section of their website and shared a video of wildest ideas, but the project was quickly removed.

That disappearance only added fuel to the most far‑out theories circulating online. One popular notion casts Robert Downey Jr’s Doctor Doom as Tony Stark’s dark mirror: trusted because he wears Stark’s face, he appears first as a heroic solution to multiversal instability before imposing his own order on Earth‑616.
