According to Goal, Bruno Fernandes is set to return from injury when Manchester United face Burnley on Wednesday in their first game since head coach Ruben Amorim was sacked, with former United midfielder Darren Fletcher taking charge as interim coach.

Fernandes, who has contributed to 12 goals this season, was withdrawn at half-time during the 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa after suffering a muscle injury on December 21 and missed the 1-0 win over Newcastle and draws with Wolves and Leeds. Mason Mount is also due to return after being forced off at half-time at home to Newcastle. Fletcher said the pair "have trained, so they should be back in the squad. But they'll be on managed minutes as well and restricted minutes because they've obviously just returned to training."

Fletcher inherits a side that have won three of their last 11 Premier League games, sit sixth and are three points from the top four, and he said he wants the team to reflect United's attacking traditions when they travel to 19th-placed Burnley at Turf Moor. "Hopefully it looks like a Manchester United team, that represents a bit of me," he said, and added he is focused only on the Burnley game for now: "the focus was on this game and then we'll speak after the game." He also noted that United are reported to have spoken to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about a return while Michael Carrick is also being considered.
