Fernando Luna, 26, was walking through the SoHo neighborhood of Manhattan in mid-December wearing two-tone loafers, eyeglasses, oversized trousers and a silver crucifix.

"I do like a really good oversized trouser," Mr. Luna said when asked about his favorite things to wear. He identified the crucifix maker as "Veneda Carter," saying, "I got this three years ago, and now it’s like my everyday." He also noted that he works in fashion public relations in New York: "Pretty much what I always wanted to do."

He described his approach to style as largely to keep it simple, filling his wardrobe with denim and neutrals. "Stuff that’s everyday and transitional," he said, adding that his guiding principle is "Just making sure you’re comfortable with what you’re wearing."
