How to craft the Dawntrail Phantom relic weapons in FFXIV

Polygon updated a guide on Jan 27, 2026, explaining how to obtain and upgrade the Phantom relic weapon series in Final Fantasy XIV’s Dawntrail expansion. The first step, Phantom Penumbrae (item level 745), added in patch 7.25, requires completing the Dawntrail main scenario and unlocking the Occult Crescent hub, then starting the quest “Arcane Artistry” in Phantom Village.

Players must gather three of each of six demiatma (18 total) from Occult Crescent critical engagements or Dawntrail FATEs, turn them in to Gerolt, accept the job-specific quest, and buy three Arcanite from Ermina for 500 Allagan Tomestones of Heliometry each to turn in to Dodokkuli.

The guide notes demiatma have low drop rates (one tester reported about three after ~20 critical encounters) and includes a crowdsourced map of which areas yield which demiatma colors, with some players reporting occasional cross-area drops. The Umbrae upgrade (patch 7.31) raises the weapon to item level 760 and requires turning in five specified items, filling an Aetherwell Array by running four types of duty roulettes (high-level dungeons, trials, alliance raids, normal raids) — each well needs 10,000 aether — and then buying three Waxing Arcanite from Ermina (500 Allagan Tomestones of Heliometry each) to turn in to Gerolt.
