Figure launches OPEN platform to list equities natively onchain

Figure, the blockchain lender, has launched a new trading platform called OPEN that hosts equities registered natively onchain, the company said.

The platform is backed by BitGo and Jump and registers equities onchain in a way that bypasses the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC). It also enables DeFi-based lending against those onchain equities.

The launch positions Figure in the ongoing stock tokenization race as it brings native onchain equity registration and decentralized-finance lending capabilities to its new platform.
