Film group says Hollywood shows 'selective outrage' over Iran
The Brigade has penned an open letter accusing parts of Hollywood of double standards and “selective” outrage over atrocities in Iran. The advocacy group, which counts some 750 filmmakers, agents, managers, publicists, executives and actors, was launched in the wake of the Oct.
7 terror attack in Israel and warned, “We refuse to tell future generations that when artists were needed to bear witness, we chose silence or selective protest instead.” In the two-plus years since the Hamas attack, the Brigade has largely worked behind the scenes to counter what it sees as antisemitism cloaked in criticism of Israel.
In September it partnered with the Creative Community for Peace on a letter rejecting Hollywood’s boycott of the Israeli film industry; signatories included Liev Schreiber, Mayim Bialik, Gene Simmons, Debra Messing, Sharon Osbourne, Greg Berlanti, Jerry O’Connell, Howie Mandel, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Lisa Edelstein, Erin Foster, Anthony Edwards, Rebecca De Mornay, Sherry Lansing, Shari Redstone and Haim Saban.
