Filming Begins on How to Train Your Dragon 2 Live-Action Remake
Movieweb reports that principal photography has begun on the live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon 2, with director Dean DeBlois announcing on Instagram that filming is underway.
DeBlois, who co-wrote and co‑helmed the first animated film with Chris Sanders before serving as sole director on its sequels and last years live-action adaptation, returns as both writer and director for this installment. He posted a behind-the-scenes photo with the captions "Back in the saddle!" and "Day 1 of principal photography on HTTYD2! The adventure begins." The remake follows the 2025 smash hit and stars Mason Thames as Hiccup and Nico Parker as Astrid.
The production is on target to meet its theatrical release date of June 11, 2027; producers listed include Marc Platt and Adam Siegel. More to come...
