Final Fantasy VII Remake adds Streamlined mode with 9,999-damage hits
Kotaku reports Square Enix announced on January 15 that a free update will add a new Streamlined Progression mode to Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on PS5 and PC, with the patch arriving January 22 to coincide with the game's launch on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S.
Square Enix said the Streamlined Progression "includes the ability to keep HP and MP topped up, and always hit for 9,999 damage!" The mode is presented as a story-focused option so players can follow Cloud and Avalanche through Midgar without dealing with combat difficulty or certain boss encounters, with characters effectively maxed out and dealing maximum damage.
The Streamlined mode will be included at launch in the new Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S ports, and the patch will let existing PS5 and PC players use it as well. The report also notes that anyone who buys the game digitally before the end of the month will automatically receive the digital version of the original Final Fantasy VII, and asks, "Could it be an easy way to clear the game on hard for the Platinum trophy? Maybe!"
