Final trailer for Project Hail Mary highlights Gosling and Rocky

A new final trailer for Project Hail Mary shows Ryan Gosling's desperate mission to save Earth as the sun begins to fade. The film is based on a novel by Andy Weir — who also wrote The Martian — with a screenplay by Drew Goddard. What sets the film apart is the bond between Gosling's scientist and an alien lifeform called Rocky; the trailer leans into that relationship and already pulls at the heartstrings.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, directors of the animated Spider-Verse films, helm the project, and Gosling is joined by Sandra Hüller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung, and Milana Vayntrub. Gosling plays Ryland Grace, a science teacher who wakes up on a spaceship light-years from home with no memory and gradually uncovers a mission to solve the mystery of a substance that is causing the sun to die out.

He must call on scientific knowledge and unorthodox ideas to save Earth, and an unexpected friendship means he may not have to do it alone.
