ZDNet identifies five preinstalled Samsung apps users may want to remove
ZDNet writer Sabrina Ortiz says many Samsung Galaxy phones ship with preinstalled apps that some users rarely use, and she highlights five first‑party apps she recommends uninstalling or disabling. Ortiz notes that preinstalled apps can vary by device, price and lineup; you might not be able to uninstall all of them, but many can be disabled and later re‑enabled.
She adds that removing or disabling unused apps can save storage and reduce background battery usage. The five apps Ortiz singles out are: Global Goals, which promotes sustainability and lets users earn money by watching ads or donating to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (“Samsung Global Goals is a worldwide effort to improve our planet and daily lives by 2030,” the company says); Samsung Free, a mix of movies, TV, news and games that overlaps with Samsung TV Plus and includes a Watch on TV Plus button; Samsung TV Plus, a free ad‑supported streaming service with more than 1,200 channels across 24 countries that does not produce original shows; Samsung Shop, a shopping app offering personalized recommendations and special offers that can create notification clutter; and Samsung Kids, a child‑focused app Samsung describes as a safe place to build healthy digital habits but which Ortiz says can be a storage hog and send unsolicited notifications if allowed.
