Font vows three-pronged plan to reconcile Barcelona with Lionel Messi
Victor Font launched a scathing attack on Joan Laporta, calling the broken relationship with Lionel Messi "unforgivable" and saying "reconciliation with Messi should be a priority since he left." He criticised the board for a friendly relationship with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez while relations with Messi remain icy, adding "The fact that he has to sneak into the Camp Nou, that we broke off relations with Leo and not with Real Madrid, is unforgivable." Font unveiled a "three-pronged" proposal to entice Messi back, covering institutional, commercial and sporting roles.
He said his team's plan would "excite Barca fans" and insisted the door is not closed on a final chapter at Barcelona. He has the backing of Xavi, who is "very disappointed with the current board" and "feels very betrayed" while calling for a change of model and modernisation.
