Ford v Ferrari reaches sixth place on Netflix weekly chart
Movieweb reports that Matt Damon's $225 million sports biopic Ford v Ferrari (released 2019) is streaming on Netflix and is currently the sixth most popular film on the platform's weekly chart.
Directed by James Mangold and featuring Christian Bale alongside Damon, the film also stars Caitríona Balfe, Josh Lucas, Jon Bernthal, Noah Jupe, Ray McKinnon and Tracy Letts. Known outside the U.S. as Le Mans 66, the story follows Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles as they build a Ford GT40 to compete against Enzo Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans; the official synopsis reads: "American automotive designer Carroll Shelby and fearless British race car driver Ken Miles battle corporate interference, the laws of physics and their own personal demons to build a revolutionary vehicle for the Ford Motor Co. Together, they plan to compete against the race cars of Enzo Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France in 1966." The film was released November 13, 2019 and runs 153 minutes.
The film has been described as the pinnacle of the "dad movie" sub-genre. This week the top spot on Netflix is held by the true-crime documentary Evil Influencer: The Jodi Heldebrandt Story; beyond Ford v Ferrari's current sixth-place ranking, further movement on the chart was not reported.
