Forza Horizon 6 set in Japan, launches May 19 on Xbox Series X/S and PC
Kotaku reports Forza Horizon 6 will move the series to Japan and launch on May 19 for Xbox Series X/S and PC, available day one on Game Pass Ultimate.
The open-world racer lets players explore Tokyo, surrounding suburbs and rural areas. Don Arceta, art director at Playground Games, claimed in an interview that Horizon 6's digital Japan is the biggest map in the series and that Tokyo is the largest city the studio has built; a new in-game journal will track activities and locations. The game also replaces the recent "superstar" protagonist with a tourist who must earn entry to the Horizon Festival and work up from rust buckets to supercars.
According to Xbox Wire, there will be around 550 cars at launch, a roster that will grow over time, and the cover car is the Toyota 2025 GR GT Prototype. Multiplayer returns with support for friends and random players, and new social features let players build tracks together, hold car meets, and create personal homes and race tracks.
Buyers of the Premium Edition can play four days early, on May 15. Playground has confirmed a PS5 port is in development but said it will not arrive until sometime later in 2026; Playground is also launching a separate open-world game, Fable, this year.
