Four upcoming birdwatching games on Steam

Birdwatching is a hobby I recommend everyone try, but if you haven’t picked up binoculars yet, several upcoming Steam games let you explore birds from home. They won’t let you tick species off a life list, but they can be a gentle introduction to the hobby. Flock Around looks cartoonish at first, but beneath its bright style it plays like a fairly accurate birding simulator.

In co-op you roam a park with a guidebook of species and try to photograph them without hints about location or appearance; in the demo I spent hours locating the 20 guidebook birds, learning that getting too close makes them fly or hide and that rare “shiny” versions can spawn.

A full release date has not been announced. Birdwatching Notebook takes an idle approach: build a balcony setup with plants and feeders, wait for visitors, and trade the treasures different species bring for coins and decorations. The demo was absorbing, and Steam lists a 2026 release window.
