French office of X raided by Paris prosecutor's cybercrime unit
The Paris Prosecutor's Office said the French offices of Elon Musk's X were searched by a cybercrime unit as part of an investigation opened in January 2025. The office said it was investigating several offences, including aiding and abetting the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material, hosting sexually explicit deepfake content, and denial of crimes against humanity.
The inquiry was expanded after reports that xAI's chatbot Grok had disseminated sexually explicit deepfakes and content denying crimes against humanity. Elon Musk and former X CEO Linda Yaccarino, along with other X employees, have been summoned for hearings in April.
The search was assisted by Europol and the French Gendarmerie nationale.
