Fugitoid joins Mutant Mayhem continuity in Tales of the TMNT #4
Fugitoid makes his debut in IDW’s Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #4, with the issue written by Andrew Joustra and drawn by Louie Joyce. The classic android is reimagined to fit the Mutant Mayhem continuity that has expanded from film to animated series and comics.
Joustra frames Fugitoid as Zayton Honeycutt, a 19-year-old brilliant scientist whose work attracts the attention of the E.P.F. Hired and funded, Zayton finds the role isn’t what he expected and, after a series of devastating events, ends up in a robot body that goes on the run.
The creative team aimed for visual consistency with the film and series: Rustam Hasanov provided designs and the scripts were cleared with the Tales animated team. Joustra also referenced the original Playmates action figure, which informed Fugitoid’s gold-and-black color scheme and shapes.
