Gabriel Basso in talks to join live-action Gundam adaptation

Movieweb reports that, according to Nexus Point News, Gabriel Basso is in talks to join Sydney Sweeney in Legendary Pictures' live-action adaptation of Mobile Suit Gundam.

The film follows young soldiers operating advanced mech suits in an intergalactic war against space colonies. If a deal is reached, NPN says Basso would join Sweeney and Noah Centineo in the cast.

It is unclear who Basso may play, but NPN reports Sweeney portrays a "young woman on a mission to avenge her father," while Centineo is seemingly playing her rival and love interest. The outlet has reached out to Basso's publicist for comment and said it will update the story.

Basso is set to reprise his role in The Night Agent for Season 3, which streams on Feb. 19, and will appear in The Strangers: Chapter 3 in theaters on Feb. 6, plus the drama Love of Your Life; his past film credits include Super 8, Juror #2, The Strangers: Chapter 2 and A House of Dynamite. Talks remain unconfirmed and further casting details have not been disclosed.
