Gabriella Carr posted a video on TikTok and Instagram showing a red notebook titled "The 1000 Nos of Gabriella Carr," and the idea has since inspired others to track rejections with spreadsheets and what some are calling a 1,000 Rejection Challenge. In her video Carr outlined goals for 2026, including professional aims as a video creator and actor, reading more and gaining followers, and showed the notebook in which she lists jobs she has applied for, roles and brand influencer campaigns that resulted in rejections.

She said: "I know I’m delusional, but you kind of have to be to chase your dreams," and added: "I’d rather try to fail than never try at all." Other social media users have copied the idea. One TikToker, @theplanistobefamous, said he was using a spreadsheet to log attempts on market sites, networking opportunities and job applications, including an entry for an ambitious role listed as "LA Times Studio Host." The columnist noted an example row reading "emailed Claudia" with the status column showing "Blocked," and wrote that the trend has become widespread online.

Carr has recorded 86 "nos" and 17 "yesses," which the piece lists as including landing a part in a play, winning a pageant title and obtaining citizenship and a passport from the Netherlands.
