People reports that George Kittle, 32, tore his right Achilles tendon and was carried off the field during the second quarter of the San Francisco 49ers' Wild Card playoff victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Jan. 11. Kittle posted on Instagram the day after the game, writing, "Football sucks sometimes.

But I love it," and sharing photos of himself on the field and a picture of his wife, Claire, kissing him in the locker room. He added, "I love these guys and this team. Heartbroken but have felt so much love and support from everyone reaching out," and closed the caption with "I’ll be good.

Thank you. We aren’t done yet!" The post noted that owner Jed York was "the first person" to meet him in the locker room and included a closing line, "🥃 cheers, all my love," alongside a Calvin and Hobbes cartoon; Claire called him "My real life superhero 👊💪😤⚡️" when sharing the post to her Instagram Stories.
