Ginger Alden shares rare photos, recalls engagement to Elvis Presley
According to People, Elvis Presley's former fiancée Ginger Alden, 69, posted rare photos and memories on Facebook, writing, "This was a special day 49 years ago for Elvis and myself becoming engaged." The post was shared Monday, Jan. 26, 2026. Alden — Presley’s final companion who found him dead in his bathroom in 1977 — wrote that she "will always hold dear his sincere and beautiful words to me then and near the end, his confiding in me and our love for one another," and added, "Thank you Elvis, you filled my life with many wonderful memories." The images show Alden in a fur coat beside Presley and a close-up of her engagement ring resting on green velvet; the pair had dated for about two months before he proposed.
She reportedly had a contentious relationship with the Presley family after his death: her mother, Jo Laverne Alden, sued the Presley estate, claiming he had promised to pay off her mortgage, and Alden was allegedly banned from entering Graceland, with Elvis’ uncle Vester telling The Daily Express that "Ginger Alden is dead now as far as the family is concerned." Alden later recounted their time together in a 2014 memoir.
In previous posts, Alden reflected on her connection with Presley’s daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, who died on Jan. 12, 2023; Alden had been 19 when she began dating Elvis in November 1976.
