God of War casts Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor in Amazon MGM series
Ólafur Darri Ólafsson has been cast as Thor in Amazon MGM's upcoming God of War series, Deadline reports. The series is based on the 2018 video game in which Kratos takes on the Norse pantheon, and the show’s Thor is expected to look very different from Chris Hemsworth’s Marvel Cinematic Universe portrayal.
Ólafsson is an Icelandic actor best known for playing Mr. Drummond on Apple TV’s hit series Severance, according to the report.
His other television credits include NOS4A2, Emerald City and The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. His film work includes The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, The Last Witch Hunter and How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World; he was also recently cast in the live-action How to Train Your Dragon 2 as the villainous Drago.
Ólafsson has performed Icelandic dubs for animated films such as Lilo & Stitch, Kung Fu Panda and Ice Age. The report also lists Ryan Hurst as Kratos and Max Parker as Heimdall in the series’ cast.
This is a developing story.
