God of War series casts Mandy Patinkin as Odin, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor
Prime Video's God of War streaming series has cast Mandy Patinkin as Odin and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor.
Patinkin, best known for his role as Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride, will portray Odin, king of the Aesir. In God of War: Ragnarok, Odin is the primary antagonist who seeks a way to survive the end of reality and its subsequent rebirth.
Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, known to Severance viewers as the Lumon enforcer Mr. Drummond, will play Thor. The series' Thor is said to be much closer to the Norse-mythology version than Chris Hemsworth's MCU portrayal.
The report notes Thor is a central antagonist in God of War: Ragnarok, described in the game as the father and brother of some gods previously slain by Kratos and his son Atreus.
The outlet said fans should be pleased by the casting of two powerhouse performers, and that the additions expand the show's ties to 2022's God of War: Ragnarok.
