Golden Globes 2026 adds podcasting; HFPA honors Mirren and Parker
Time reported that the 83rd annual Golden Globes kicked off the 2026 awards season, with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association adding podcasting as a new category and staging a separate "Golden Eve" ceremony that honored Helen Mirren with the Cecil B. DeMille award and Sarah Jessica Parker with the Carol Burnett award.
The main show, hosted again by Nikki Glaser, included many presenters and several notable winners: Timothée Chalamet won Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy for Marty Supreme; Paul Thomas Anderson won Best Screenplay for One Battle After Another; Teyana Taylor won Best Female Supporting Actor for One Battle After Another; Stellan Skarsgård took Best Supporting Actor for Sentimental Value; Noah Wyle won Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Series — Drama; The Pitt won Best Television Series — Drama and The Studio won Best Television Series — Comedy; Good Hang with Amy Poehler won the new Best Podcast category; and the song "Golden" from KPop Demon Hunters was named Best Original Song, with songwriter and singer Ejae delivering an emotional speech.
Critics’ Choice had held its awards earlier — naming One Battle After Another best picture and recognizing Chalamet and Jessie Buckley among acting winners — and it remains to be seen how closely the HFPA's selections will align.
