Google's $7.99 AI Plus plan expands to US and 34 other countries
On Tuesday, Google expanded its AI Plus subscription to the US and 34 other countries, the ZDNET article reports. AI Plus is priced at $7.99 a month with 50% off the first two months and is positioned as a cheaper alternative to the $19.99-a-month AI Pro plan and the $250-a-month AI Ultra plan.
ZDNET says AI Plus offers enhanced access to Gemini 3 Pro, Deep Research, image generation with Nano Banana Pro, and video generation with Veo 3.1 Fast. The plan provides 200 credits a month for video generation with Google Flow and Whisk, up from the 100 credits included with a free account.
The article notes free and AI Plus users can use NotebookLM for research and writing assistance, while Plus users get more audio overviews, notebooks and increased access to Gemini in Chrome, Gmail and other Google apps. AI Plus can be shared with up to five other people. ZDNET reports AI Plus subscribers receive 200GB of storage for email, photos and Drive files compared with 15GB on the free plan, and that Google One Premium 2TB subscribers will receive AI Plus features over the next few days.
The piece also says the plan was initially rolled out in Indonesia in early September 2025 and later expanded to more countries. The article advises whether AI Plus is worth it depends on how much you use Gemini and Google’s AI features: free users who hit limits may benefit, while current AI Pro subscribers who don’t use the features much could save $13 a month by downgrading.
