Google Search Interest in 'Crypto' Near One-Year Low
Google Trends shows worldwide search volume for 'crypto' at 30 out of 100, hovering near a 12-month low of 24. The metric last reached 100 in August 2025, when the crypto market's total capitalization topped more than $4.2 trillion. U.S. search activity followed a similar path: it peaked at 100 in July, fell below 37 in January, then rose to 56 in the first week of February.
The U.S. yearly low of 32 was recorded during the April 2025 market crash fueled by U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariff policies. The market's total capitalization has declined to about $2.4 trillion, and total market volume slid from more than $153 billion on Jan.
14 to roughly $87.5 billion, according to CoinMarketCap. Search interest is used as a gauge of investor sentiment and aligns with other measures like the Crypto Fear & Greed Index, which hit a record low of 5 before inching up to 8—both readings signal 'extreme fear.' Sentiment has returned to levels last seen after the 2022 Terra collapse.
