Grammys 2026: Kendrick Lamar leads nominees; Bad Bunny, Lady Gaga among top contenders
The 68th annual Grammy Awards, set for Sunday in Los Angeles, will bring many of pop’s biggest stars and rising artists to the ceremony, and Kendrick Lamar leads all nominees with nine nods, The New York Times reports. The Times says Lamar’s nominations are mostly for his album "GNX." His collaboration with SZA, "Luther," is up for both record and song of the year.
The pair also toured stadiums over the summer, while SZA has been celebrating her 2022 album "S.O.S.," the article notes. The article highlights other leading nominees: Bad Bunny earned six nominations for the album "Debí Tirar Más Fotos," and is quoted saying, "You don’t have to do the same thing that the old artists did in the past." British singer Lola Young, who broke through with "Messy" and collapsed onstage last fall, is up for best new artist and best pop solo performance.
TikTok star-turned-singer Addison Rae and British soul singer Olivia Dean also appear among the best new artist contenders, the piece says. Lady Gaga has seven nominations, including in the three top categories she has yet to win: album, record and song of the year. The Times’ critic Lindsay Zoladz praised her album "Mayhem" and its stage show.
