Green-Haired DJ Mace Soundtracks Milan Olympics Opening Ceremony
The 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympic Games Opening Ceremony featured Italian musician DJ Mace in an ice DJ booth, providing the soundtrack as athletes paraded through four locations. With over 90 countries competing, he helped keep the crowd energized as teams arrived on the world stage.
Born Simone Benussi and widely known for his trademark green hair, the Milanese producer has been active since the late 1990s. His debut album OBE went triple Platinum and his hit "La canzone nostra" achieved six-time Platinum status. He has also produced tracks with artists such as Fabri Fibra, Salmo and Marracash.
As Warner Music Italy President Pico Cibelli put it, “MACE’s beats have been the backbone for many artists in the Italian hip-hop and electronic scene for decades.” Fans noticed his booth appeared to be made of ice and was positioned in front of the two flagpoles near the athletes’ parade exit, giving him the chance to greet many competitors as they took their seats.
