Greyhound Remains One of Apple TV’s Longest-Running Hits
Tom Hanks’ naval World War II thriller Greyhound has quietly become one of Apple TV’s most successful films. Originally set for a June 2020 theatrical release from Sony, the studio ultimately offloaded the picture to Apple TV for a reported $70 million when the pandemic intervened.
The film has been well received, earning 78% and 76% scores on Rotten Tomatoes for critics and audiences respectively, and has maintained a steady presence on Apple TV’s Top 10. According to FlixPatrol, Greyhound has spent a remarkable 755 days in the top 10 on domestic and global Apple TV charts.
The movie was produced on a reported $55 million budget and directed by Aaron Schneider. Set in the Atlantic during World War II, Greyhound follows an armada of Allied ships escorting troops while Tom Hanks’ Commander Ernest Krause confronts pursuing German U‑boats.
