Grounded 2: Where to find the ladybug egg and how to unlock its nest
To get the ladybug buggy in Grounded 2 you must first swipe a ladybug egg from the Garden and then unlock and craft a special ladybug nest where the egg can incubate. The egg and the nest blueprint both require materials and exploration in the Veggie Garden, so players just starting out won’t be able to get the third buggy type immediately.
Ladybug eggs appear in the chard patch (the blue‑purple leafy area just east of the hammer point of interest), though where they spawn in the patch seems to be random. Some players need to climb webs to reach higher platforms; Polygon recommends bringing the ant buggy rather than the spider buggy because the ant carries items and makes returning the egg to your nest easier.
The ladybug nest blueprint is tied to a disk found in a secret Ominent candy factory beneath the Fairy House in the northeast corner of the Veggie Garden map. The factory can be hazardous — you’ll want gear that slows sizzle buildup or a mintito smoothie (the mintito recipe itself requires an ice splinter from the ice cream cart) if you plan to explore slowly.
You can reach the factory by hopping up from the chard patch (faster with the spider buggy) or by following the hose near the hammer onto the potting bench and dropping in. A wolf spider patrols outside the Fairy House; dash inside, climb down the ladder, and you can loot a mintito smoothie from a dead Ominent worker in the hallway for a short trip.
