Grounded 2 gunpowder clumps: where to find them and what they do
Published Jan 28, 2026, Polygon explains where to find gunpowder clumps in Grounded 2 after the Toxic Tangle update: these rare resources come from buster-caps scattered around the park and require a tier-three Omni-Tool Axe to open. Gunpowder clumps are inside buster-caps, small white capsules set in brown plastic rings, and appear across the starting regions.
Polygon identifies the biggest cluster near the Buster-Cap Gun, just south of the picnic table and close to the toxic anthill entrance, with several between the toxic anthill and the northern edge of the snackbar. Other specific spawn points noted include two clumps near the pine tree—one on a rock against the trunk and one in a little nook above it—and one behind the snackbar's southwest corner near some brittle quartzite.
You can’t interact with buster-caps until you upgrade the Omni-Tool axe to tier three, which requires a praying mantis head and black ant parts; Polygon says black ant parts are only obtainable when you venture into the Veggie Garden. Gunpowder clumps are used to craft bombs (needed to blow up rotten vegetables in the Veggie Garden) and to upgrade the Omni-Tool hammer to tier three.
A tier-three hammer lets you break snail shells for high-tier defensive equipment and gather other resources, including pinecones.
