Published Jan 29, 2026 — Polygon outlines where to find potato bugs in Grounded 2’s Veggie Garden and how to take them down, noting their parts are useful for defense recipes and Omni-Tool upgrades. Polygon says you’ll encounter roughly nine or 10 potato bugs across the Veggie Garden, mostly in the central area west of the chard patch near the Hammer point of interest.

The outlet also found two in the greenhouse — one east of the structure and one south near the bags of dirt — and another at the western edge of the pumpkin patch among spiders and larvae. Potato bugs attack with a long lunging tackle that can deal heavy damage; you can block with a weapon or shield or dodge to avoid the hit.

They frequently tuck their legs in to defend, which greatly reduces incoming damage but gives you a window to reposition and heal. Polygon reports potato bugs are weak to smashing and fresh damage; their sole weak point is the legs, so slashing at the legs deals extra damage. The guide recommends using a bow with mint arrows or the Glacial Sting staff to apply fresh damage from range until the enemy freezes, then rushing in with a two-handed club.

There’s no guarantee of specific drops: Polygon said it took hunting three potato bugs before getting a single head. Scanning a head unlocks tier-three gear recipes with defense on par with snail shell armor, and you need the head to upgrade the hammer tool. The guide also notes you need potato bug bits to upgrade one Omni-Tool function.
