Pcgamer reports the first major content update for Grounded 2 went live today, bringing the Toxic Tangle expansion with a new Garden Patch biome, a slate of new creatures and "the mysterious Tang effect," described as the result of an experiment at Ominent Practical Technologies corrupting soil, water and creatures.

The update introduces a vine-choked Garden biome with vertical climbs, secret stashes and new threats; new creatures listed include black ants, fireflies, wasps, rust and potato beetles, earwigs, crickets, wooly aphids and the Snake Colossus, described as the largest colossus yet. It also adds the Ladybug Buggy, a heavy-duty tank-style mount with a pressurized water cannon, a powerful charge and slow health regeneration that can rinse away Tang. Mutations have been split into active and passive, the builder toolkit gained new kits, and Garden MIX.R and O.R.C. wave challenges are now live.

Obsidian wrote it is preparing the return of Playgrounds Mode, which will enter PTB in February with core tools from the first Grounded. The update is accompanied by comprehensive patch notes listing new resources, weapons, armors, buildings, balance changes and numerous bug fixes, and Obsidian said more passive mutations will arrive during development.
